Dual
EnrollmentDual Enrollment
students receive the benefits of attending both schools - they are
able to remain a part of their home school, enjoying high school
activities while they train for the job market. They graduate with
their class and receive diplomas. They may then enter the work force,
pursue further technical training, or attend college. Westside
Tech program completers often earn above average wages
upon entering the work force.

CAMPUS PROGRAMS
Adults
with Disabilities-Through
a state-funded grant from the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation,
eight teachers serve approximately 350 students throughout the Orlando
area who attend one of three different training centers. Each student
has a documented disability and is referred to the A.W.D. Program
by the staff at one of our partner agencies. The overall goal of
the program is to provide students with instruction and training
in order to help them achieve their full capabilities. Based on
abilities and interests, the students receive instruction in the
following areas: computer literacy, navigating the Internet, money
management, proper nutrition, cooking skills, employability skills,
workplace simulations, civics, voter education, personal awareness
and social skills, recreation, and leisure skills.
HIGH
SCHOOL BASED PROGRAMS
Apopka
High School:
Automotive
Service Technology-This
program prepares students for employment and/or specialized training
in the automotive industry. The instruction, course of study, facilities,
and equipment of this institution, have been evaluated by the National
Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) and meet the
National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence Standards of
Quality (ASE) for the training of Automobile Technicians in the
following areas: Electrical Systems, Steering and Suspension, Brakes
and Engine Performance.
Evans
High School:
Commercial
Foods and Culinary Arts-This
program prepares students for entry-level jobs in the Commercial
Foods and Culinary Arts fields. Training includes preparation and
serving, storage, identification, selection and presentation of
a wide variety of foods, communication and leadership skills, mathematical
skills, human relations and employability skills, and safe and efficient
work practices.

Cosmetology-
This program prepares students for employment as cosmetologists.
Training includes Florida cosmetology law and rules, acquisition
of knowledge of cosmetology and related chemistry, anatomy and physiology
and development of skills in the practice of cosmetology.
Ocoee
High School:
Building
Construction-This
program prepares students for employment as Building Maintenance
Technicians in commercial buildings, hotels and/or multifamily housing
complexes. Training includes reading blueprints and schematics,
basic skills in the maintenance and repairs in carpentry, electrical,
plumbing, masonry and air conditioning.
West
Orange High School:
Computer
Electronics Technology-This
program prepares students for employment as computer support specialists.
The training includes configuring, maintaining, troubleshooting
and repairing computer systems and network systems. This program
provides the knowledge and skills needed to enter the computer/network
support field. Program coverage includes: operating systems, network
fundamentals, hardware installation, upgrading, and troubleshooting.
Preparation for industry recognized certifications are an integral
part of this program.
T.V.
Production-This program
prepares students for initial employment as television production
operators, television broadcast technicians, camera operators, studio
assistants, edit technicians, audio, and video recording engineers,
production assistants, and professional/para-professional production
technicians. Training includes: lighting, scripwriting, TV and film
style videography, pre- and postproduction, second unit directing,
electronic news gathering and field production, on-camera performing,
and video and motion picture digital production technology. Communicatons,
human relations, leadership and employability skills, industry protocol
and safe and efficient work practices arre integral part of the
training.
