NAILS SPECIALTY

DESCRIPTION:This program prepares students for employment as a registered Manicurist and Pedicurist. Instruction is designed to qualify students for employment upon successfully obtaining a Nails Specialty Certification. The content includes, but is not limited to: communication, leadership, human relations and employability skills; safe and efficient work practices; Florida cosmetology law and rules; acquisition of knowledge of the nails specialist and the related chemistry; bacteriology, anatomy and physiology; and development of skills in performing the techniques required in the practice of nails specialist occupations.

LENGTH: 240 hours

UNIQUE REQUIREMENTS: The State of Florida requires students to meet the minimum basic skills levels prior to program completion.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER: Upon the successful completion of the program, the student must complete a nail specialty registration application and submit it to the Board of Cosmetology (Department of Business and Professional Regulation, State of Florida) along with the applicable fees. After the application has been approved, the nail specialist registration will be issued by the DBPR.
