Cosmetology
& Skin Care
Qualified
high school students are encouraged to explore a career in the
Skin Care or Cosmetology program through dual-enrollment or the
Exit Option program with Westside Tech and their home school.
Upon transitioning from the dual-enrollment or Exit Option program
into, and completing the adult program, students are qualified
to sit for the Florida State Board of Cosmetology licensure examination.
Classrooms are located on the Westside Tech campus in Winter Garden
and at Maynard Evans High School in Orlando. (Place links to instructors’
info here?)
Students
may choose to continue into the adult program and receive hours
toward a master cosmetologist’s license upon satisfactorily
completing the required hours and services, or exit the high school
Skin Care program as a registered Skin Care Technician. These hours
and services may also be applied to the adult cosmetology licensure
program.
Students
are encouraged to participate in SkillsUSA, a national organization
promoting work ethics and leadership skills. (Maybe a link to that
site?)
For
more information regarding the Dual-Enrollment and Exit Option Program,
Orange County high school sophomores and juniors should contact
the Career and Technical Education Coordinator at their home school.
