Air
Conditioning Contractor's Association of Central Florida Apprenticeship
Program
Apprenticeship
is without question the best way for a person to learn a trade.
The modern form of apprenticeship in this country has been used
since 1937.
Our local Contractor's Association (ACCA/CF) started this program
in 1991, and it continues to be one of the premier programs in the
country. It is registered with the Florida Department of Education
Apprenticeship Bureau in the division of Workforce Development.
Apprentices in this program will learn to properly install and troubleshoot
air conditioning and heating systems, and become very valuable to
an appreciative employer.
The way this program works is simple. The CENTRAL FLORIDA chapter of air conditioning contractors is the sponsor of the program. You
must work for a contractor that is part of (or willing to join)
the CENTRAL FLORIDA local association. He/she will enroll you in
the program. Enrollment is one time per year during the summer.
A committee of these contractors oversees the program to ensure
that it is being executed properly.
Your only responsibilities are to work in a diligent and faithful
manner and go to school two nights per week from September through
April for three years. Classes meet from 6: PM to 9:PM. Absenteeism
from class is not tolerated in this program; therefore, if you are
not serious about your future in this trade, you should not apply.
Many of our graduates are now supervisors, project superintendents,
business owners, inspectors, and well trained technicians in the
air conditioning and heating trade. The need for "top notch"
people in this trade is high.
Upon completion of this program the graduates receive a certificate
of completion from the State of Florida Department of Education and ACCA/CF.
